Snow Days are Here Again With GlueArts!

It's true!

Walk into this house and ask our kids are wishing for.... and they'll say a snow day!

We haven't had a one yet this year and the new sleds and gear look forlorn waiting for a glimpse of some flakes!

Designer Kristen Swain has the perfect way to put a sparkle in your eye and bring a bit of winter inside. Little Yellow Bicycle's Winter Twig collection makes for the perfect collection! And notice how Kristen used an empty ribbon spool for the base! What a great way to recycle and reuse!!

Happy Day Snowman
GlueArts Designer: Kristen Swain

Supplies:

Little Yellow Bicycle Winter twig collection
Large ribbon spool
flake glitter snow
ribbon flowers- maya road
styrofoam
Fimo clay for carrot nose
Large pins
Gems
dot paper- pink paislee
crinkled ribbon-www.scrapinkris.etsy.com
sharpie
pearls- kaisercraft
white fabric paint

1. Cover inside ribbon spool with strip of paper.
2. Use hot glue gun to glue styrofoam balls to top of spool, then small pile of balls beside snowman. Finally use glue to glue standing person chipboard by snowman.
3. Use hot glue to glue on puff balls, twine, nose, ribbon and eyes for snowman, use sharpie to detail snowman mouth.
4. Use stickers and large pins to create flags, add dollop of hot glue to top of snowpile and stick pins into glue.
5. Add stitched banner to chipboard person, then detail with gems.
6. Add sticker medallions around spool, adding ribbon flowers to center medallion and snowman scarf.
7.Hot Glue Flurries sticker to top of spool.
8. Use white fabric paint to add 'snow' to top of spool, dripping off top and also adding to bottom lip of spool. Then add flake snow all over decor, let dry.

It is nice to see some winter art still showing itself. Though it is nice to see the upcoming spring supplies, it is still winter in the Midwest :) Thanks for the opportunity to win.

What a great Idea. I love using things around the house and getting creative with them to see what I can come up with. I am on a budget and cant just go out and buy all the cute papers and everything else so I use things around the house with the things I have and do what I can. I love this snowman. It's so cute.

A really awesome project, but I can´t agree about the point, that we should want the snow to stay, as I for one have had more than enough of this white stuff here the last 3 years, that´s for sure, and I´m so envious on you, that you haven´t had even one day, how lucky can you be? ha ha ha. Butr I know, the kids probably don´t really agree with me on that thoug he he he.

I love that she used a ribbon spool. I always save my ribbon spools for projects, although I have yet to use one! :)

What a great idea. I like to reuse bottles to hold small supplies, but I've never decorated them.
