Snowman Tree Ornament
GlueArts Designer: Linda Albrecht
Supplies:
GlueArts Glue Glider Pro with Perma Tac Adhesive & GA Hot Glue Gun
October Afternoon "Holiday Style" Collection Wrap Pack, patterned papers, Shape Stickers and buttons
Other:
Clear glitter, black wire, felt, twigs, Mica Flakes, silver pipe cleaners, mini bottle brush tree, mini black brads, paper mache box, one 2" styrofoam ball, one 1 1/2" styrofoam ball
Instructions:
1. Cover paper mache box with patterned papers using Perma Tac Adhesive.
2. Glitter the top of box and cut a 1 1/4" x 12" strip of patterned paper to make a pinwheel for the box top.
3. Use the Glue Glider Pro to apply a strip of adhesive along one edge of the paper strip then sprinkle on silver glitter.
4. Accordion fold the paper strip at about 1/4" intervals, hot glue ends together then adhere to the top of the box with hot glue.
5. Use hands and fingers to press into the styrofoam balls to slightly compress them into a smoother shape and also add bumps for a more realistic "snowball". Insert a small dowel or wood skewer into the two balls, apply hot glue and adhere them together. Apply a layer of paint.
6. Cut a 3/4"x 1 1/4" strip from orange felt to make a nose. Apply Perma Tac to one side of the felt then make a 45 degree fold at one end then tightly roll the felt into the nose shape.
7. Make an indentation into the snowman face and adhere felt nose with hot glue.
8. Make a scarf from green felt and tie onto snowman. Add rosey cheeks with paint and mini black brads for eyes. Apply a small piece of black wire into button holes, apply hot glue to snowman and insert wired buttons onto tummy.
9. Hot glue a half circle into a cone shape for hat then hot glue onto head. Adhere October Afternoon trim onto the base of the hat then apply silver pipe cleaner trim with hot glue also.
10. Adhere the snowman to the top of the box with hot glue, string buttons onto black wire and wrap around twigs for arms. Hot glue a few pom poms from trim onto wire also.
11. Apply "comfort and joy" shape sticker onto the front of the box base.
12. Apply wire for hanging and secure with hot glue.
Wow......we know that's what you're saying! (and if like us...pondering a run to the store for Mica Flakes and styrofoam balls!)
