Fiskars & GlueArts... Family & Friends...

Fiskars and GlueArts

Family and Friends

Throw in the 4th of July and we have quite a celebration!

All this week we have been celebrating Fiskars and their incredible line up of tools. Many of you might not realize just how many Fiskars tools you have in your homes. Paper trimmers, punches, garden shears, pruners, scissors and more! Fiskars is a household name and known for their quality products and yes...Fiskars orange!

GlueArts is pleased to pair up with such an outstanding company. All week long we are sharing ideas for how you too can incorporate Fiskars products along with your GlueArts adhesives!

Today we have two more items for you to feast your eyes upon. Designer Andrea Budjack has a soft and feminine thank you card set that anyone would love to be the receiver of!

Guest Designer Stephenie Hamen has a 4th of July lolly that is perfect for the upcoming celebration. They're easy to make and look great! Make a few for your party. Tuck them in and around your home! Or use a sturdy dowel and hand these off as party favors to the kids!!

4th of July Lolly
GlueArts Guest Designer: Stephenie Hamen

The 4th of July is one of those holidays that I truly enjoy celebrating.  I love the bright bold colors of the red, white, and blue.    I love the fireworks, the cookouts, and the shear wonderment of it all.  I feel especially grateful this year as we have watched the unrest in so many other areas of the world.  It never ceases to amaze me at what it means to have been born and raised here in America, born and raised to be strong, independent, and free.

This 4th of July I have stepped up my decorating – because on top of all else, it is another reason to craft and decorate! – by making a festive lolly to sit in a display with some flags on our coffee table.  It was a quick project that can easily be replicated for other holidays and events.  While not a new idea in and of itself, each lolly is always its own unique treasure.

Here are the supplies you will need for this project:

·         Some old book pages
·         A few yards of festive and coordinating ribbon
·         Some bling or buttons for the center
·         2 paper doilies
·         Tulle
·         Wooden skewer or thin dowel rod
·         A light colored cardstock or patterned paper that will coordinate/melt into the project.
·         Fiskars Micro-Tip scissors
·         GlueArts Glue Gun
·         GlueArts 3D Combo Pac
·         GlueArts Glue Glider PRO

I love projects like this one, so let’s jump right in!

Get all of your supplies gathered and ready to go – I truly believe in having everything together before you start.  It keeps you on task and creative, without having to stop and think about where something is, which often derails creative moments!

2.    Cut 4-5 book pages to about 3 inches wide and use the Scallop Sentiment border punch along one edge of each.

3.    Accordion fold each piece at the natural dip in the punch design.

4.    Using your Glue Glide Pro, adhere all of the pieces into one long strip.

5.    Punch out an XL circle using the Round ‘n Round Squeeze Punch.

6.    Using your glue gun, adding only a little bit at a time, begin gluing your folded book pages to your circle, building your lolly base.
7.    When the final pieces come together, adhere them together as well.

8.    Take the glue gun and one of your doilies and hot glue it over the center.

9.    Turn your lolly over and begin assembling the ribbons.

10.  Using the glue gun begin attaching your ribbons and trims to the back of the lolly on the circle you punched out.

11.  When you are happy with embellishing, add the skewer, trim the ends of the ribbons and then use the other doily to cover and seal in the back (this covers some of the overlap and goop so that it can be visible from both sides).

12.  Turn your lolly back over to the front to complete.

13.  Punch another XL circle and use your 3D foam adhesive to attach it to the center of the doily.

14.  Take some tulle and carefully bunch it up, using the glue gun to attach it to the circle.

15.  Use the adhesive squares in the combo pac to adhere a scallop circle punched book page onto the tulle.

16.  Add in a piece of ribbon and bling with the adhesive squares as well.

17.  Grab a fun way to display your lolly – I chose a vintage Coronet Floral Arranger that I had at home.

18.  Now, go grab some lemonade, a lawn chair, and some friends and family and celebrate the 4th!
I hope you have a safe and happy 4th of July!
