Do you enjoy making gifts?
Like to give something special that is not found here and there?
Today's project is just the ticket for those of you who yearn to be unique and different.
Designer Jan Hennings used a vintage cheese box for her beautiful project this week highlighting Basic Grey's Sweet Thread collection. (I have to confess...I didn't know about vintage cheese boxes...but they are pretty cool items!! and a Google search will show you a variety of vintage brand cheese boxes)
Supplies:
GlueArts Hot Glue Gun and melt sticks
Cardstock, sticker alpha's, brad, flower, buttons, fabric (Basic Grey)
Tim Holtz, Alterations Die (Sizzix)
Antique White paint (DecoArt)
Vintage cheese box and spool.
Instructions:
1.) Start with a vintage cheese box and measure the inside dimensions. (Mine is 2.50" x 8.50")
2.) Cut a piece of Basic Grey, "Sweet Threads, Must Have" cardstock.
3.) Apply Glue Arts, High Tac adhesive to the cardstock and press into place.
4.) Using the dress form die by Sizzix, cut a dress form from corrugated cardboard and a dress form from Basic Grey, "Sweet Threads", ruffled mini.
5.) Paint the dress form with Antique White. Let dry.
6.) The dress form that has been cut from cardstock, cut off the top portion and the stand part of the diecut. This will make a dress shape.
7.) Using the fabric scalloped circle, fold the very top over and hot glue.
8.) Using the same piece of fabric, cut a waistband and pocket. This will make a little apron.
9.) Hot glue the apron into place on the dress.
10.) Turn the dress over and apply a bead of glue to each side just below the waist. Fold the scalloped edge in.
11.) Hot glue three tiny buttons at the top of the dress.
12.) Hot glue the dress onto the corrugated cardboard diecut.
13.) Using a vintage wooden spool, cut a strip of coordinating cardstock to fil around the spool. Hot glue into place.
14.) Hot glue a Basic Grey fabric brad on top of the spool.
15.) Hot glue the spool on the top center of the cheese box.
16.) Punch scalloped circles out of Basic Grey cardstock. Decorate as desired and add the letters ART to the scalloped circles.
17.) Hot glue the ART letters into place.
A $20 value! Includes (1) Roll Ribbon Adhesive, (1) Roll Extreme Adhesive Squares, (10) Sheets Vellum Adhesive, (1) Sheet U CUT IT Foam, (16) Squares Raisen's, and (300) Micro Adhesive Squares.
