Gifts for Mom!
Actually we should say....Gifts for a Special Someone!
After all you do not need to be a Mom to receive a special handmade gift! However with Mother's Day on the direct horizon...we're sharing ideas all week long that I know my Mom {and myself!} would love to receive!
Are you a bag collector? Do you have one for the library, one for the grocery store and yes I'll admit...one for "returns".lol Then Designer Andrea Budjack has the perfect gift idea!!! A sweet handmade bag and beautiful box to give it in. The box could also serve as a place to keep special trinkets and mementos!!
And did you watch the Royal Wedding last Friday? Hats and feathers were all the rage! Designer Lesley Langdon has a beautiful idea for a sweet way to decorate your Mum's hair or yours....consider attaching this beautiful clip onto a sweater, shoe, handbag or even on a cuff bracelet! It's easy to make and the finished product is stunning!! All these projects are of course made with our outstanding line up of GlueArts adhesives!

Bag Instructions:
1. Create bag from pattern or use an existing bag.
2. Die cut several flower shapes from felt and layout on bag as desired prior to adhering.
3. Using the Glue Arts glue gun, begin to adhere each felt layer. Use the end of a pen or paintbrush, press each layer down as you go, twisting slightly to add dimension to the flower as it forms and cools. Add jewels or beads to the center of each if desired (not shown in this project).
Box Instructions:
1. To create box, use a paper mache house, removing two pieces attached to the lid/roof.
2. Using cardstock, cut to fit around base of box and roof, as a pattern, adhere to fabric and cut. Stitch along edges, adding paper strip to base piece. Adhere pieces to box using Pro Glider. Trace the sides of the roof on paper, cut and adhere.
3. Embellish the now covered box, using U Cut It 3d foam and extreme adhesive squares, to add each layer/item.

Feathers & Flowers Hair Accessory
Designer: Lesley Langdon
My Mother decided a couple years ago that she would start wearing flowers in her hair. She picked them up at the Dollar Store or she would convert silk flowers into hair clips, etc. She tells me daily how many compliments she gets and how I should start wearing flowers in my hair too. (I have yet to jump on board!). I asked what I could make her for Mother's Day this year, something that she would love. Her answer? "A flower for my hair - WITH FEATHERS". OK Mom, here it is! I hope you LOVE it!
Supplies:
Glue Arts Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Glue Arts Ribbon Adhesive
Cream Satin Type Fabric
Feathers (Guinea, Peacock)
Spellbinders Die Templates (Classic Ovals and Standard Circles)
Cream Felt
Hair Clip
Sewing Machine
Instructions:
1. You will be making 5 petals to start. Die cut 10 ovals from fabric that are about 3 inches long (or hand cut). Sew 2 pieces together leaving a gap at one end. Be sure to sew with the good side facing in (to make 5 petals). Invert to make your petal. Repeat 4 more times.
2. Complete petals by using your Glue Arts Hot Glue Gun to pinch closed the base of each petal, puckering it and then hot gluing each puckered petal onto a felt die cut circle (2 inches).
3. Now it's time to make the rolled flower for the center. Take a strip of fabric (36 inches, by 2 inches). Fold in half, good side out and stitch together with sewing machine at bottom. DO NOT IRON - the flower will look smaller and flatter if you iron crisp.
4. Take a long strip of Glue Arts Ribbon Adhesive and apply it to the bottom of fabric strip, following the stitch line. Starting at one end, make a triangle fold, and start rolling the fabric to make a flower. The Ribbon Adhesive will hold it all together. Taper at the end with another triangle fold and hot glue closed.
5. Hot glue feathers to the flower base, then hot glue the rolled flower over top in the center of the 5 petals.
6. To finish the back and make it a wearable piece, die cut a smaller circle of felt (about 1 inch) and hot glue the metal hair clip/felt to the base of the flower.
