With Sizzix!!
All this week we're excited to bring you ideas using Sizzix products!
Sizzix has long been known for their outstanding diecut products including the Sizzix Big Shot, Sizzix Sidekick, Sizziz Sizzlits and of course...their beautiful Sizzix dies!! Truly beautiful products that are indispensable for today's crafter! Sizzix dies cut not only paper...but yes...fabric! And felt!!
Designer Patti Milazzo created a beautiful card with layers and intricate cuts made easy with her Big Shot machine!! Designer Linda Albrecht brings new life to pinwheels for a beautiful way to decorate your home for spring or anytime you need a little lift!!
The scrolled die cut designs Sizzix has available remind me of wrought iron work when cut from black cardstock. I was inspired by a piece of furniture in my home to mix the black Corner die cuts with the woodgrained paper. I then created bright colored flower and butterfly accents to embellish the scrolled squares.
Supplies:
Glue Arts:
Glue Glider Pro with
1/4 Perma Tac Cartridge Refill - Pro
Mini Adhesive Squares
3D Combo Pac: U-Cut-It
Sizzix:
Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
Original Die - Flourish #656187
Sizzlit Dies – Flowers, Branches & Leaves Set #656064
Sizzlit Dies – Corners, Heart & Tree Set #656898
Other: Crate Paper Restoration Pattern Papers, Border Stickers and Phrase Stickers; clear gems and pearls; glitter glue
Instructions:
1. Create a 4” x 8” landscape card. I used the a neutral background pattern that looks like a wood grain.
2. Die cut the scrolled Corners Die from black cardstock. Apply Mini Adhesive Squares to the back and adhere them to the card creating 3 squares.
3. Cut circles from patterned paper and apply Glue Arts U-Cut-It Foam Adhesive to the back of each circle. Then adhere the circles to the center of each square.
4. Die cut Hearts from the Flourish Die from black cardstock and yellow pattern paper. Arrange the hearts to create a butterfly, adhering them with Mini Adhesive Squares.
5. Die cut Sizzlit Flowers from various pattern papers. Use the Mini Adhesive Squares to layer them and attach them to the right and left circles.
6. Apply the green border sticker near the bottom of the card. Next, apply U-Cut-It Foam Adhesive to the back of the sentiment sticker and position it in the center of the border sticker.
7. Add buttons, gems and pearl embellishments as well as glitter glue to complete the card.
Tip: When applying Mini Adhesive Squares to the back of small areas like the scrolled Corner Die shapes, place them on and then use your finger to fold over any excess to prevent it from showing.
I put a new twist on the kiddie pinwheel by shabbying it up and adding a flower to the center. Use the Sizzix "Pinwheel" Die to decorate for spring by putting aeveral of them in a container or use them one at a time in a small clay pot to use as a place setting decoration for a shower or Easter.
Supplies:
Glue Arts Mini Hot Glue Gun and sticks
Glue Arts "Accent It All" Vinyl, Tickle Me Pink & Pumpkin Patch
Sizzx Bigz Die, Pinwheel #656524
Sizzex Bigz Die, Flowers, 3D #656545
BasicGrey "Sweet Threads" I Need paper
BasicGrey "Green at Heart" Jungle paper
BasicGrey "Lemonade" Pretty Petals paper
wood Skewers
Brads
Instructions:
1. Apply "Accent it All" vinyl to the backside of patterned papers.
2. Run prepared paper through die cutting machine with the Sizzix "Pinwheel" die and put together each pinwheel according to the instructions that come with the die. You will need one brad for each pinwheel. Use brown ink to distress the edges of the pinwheels.
5. Hot glue the base of the flower to the center of the pinwheel then add a little more hot glue to keep the coiled part of the flower in place.
6. Hot glue the wood skewer to the backside of the pinwheel. You can make the pinwheel die functional by using a pin or long tack that is inserted into the wood skewer.
7. Enjoy!
